Amy E. Mathews-Muttwill, professional singer/voice teacher in the Austin area, obtained her Bachelor of Music Education at the Conservatory of Music, University of Missouri in Kansas City and her Master of Music in Vocal Performance at the University of Texas at San Antonio. Throughout her studies, she has sung lead roles such as Papagena in Die Zauberflöte, Hänsel in Hänsel und Gretel as well as chorus roles and various opera scenes. In addition to her operatic experience, she sang with the Heritage Chorale at UMKC under the direction of Dr. Eph Ehly. At the end of her studies at UMKC, she attended the American Institute of Musical Studies in Graz, Austria and later went on to sing the role of Atalanta in Xerxes with Opera Piccola Bremen the following year in Bremen, Germany.

Upon her return from Germany, she was granted an Ambassadorial Scholarship from the Rotary Club of Kansas City to study abroad for one year in Vienna, Austria. During her stay in Vienna, she studied with private vocal teachers and coaches, and obtained positions as a soloist in various concerts throughout Vienna. In addition, she sang in the chorus with Theater an der Wien in their summer production of Leoncavallo’s La Boheme and Massenet’s Don Quichote. She was also a member of the esteemed Arnold Schoenberg Chor with whom she toured several performances of Haydn's Schöpfung (The Creation) in London, Luzern and Liechtenstein with Maestro Nikolaus Harnoncourt. She currently sings with an Austin-based Grammy-nominated choral group, Conspirare, under the direction of Craig Hella Johnson. In October 2008, was a soloist with the Round Rock Symphony in their debut performance under the baton of Silas Nathaniel Huff.  She recently sang the role of 1st Fairy in Mendelssohn's A Midsummer Night's Dream with the Austin Symphony under the direction of Peter Bay at the Long Center in November 2009.

In addition to her singing career, she has taught private voice lessons for over ten years, directed church choirs, school musicals and taught voice classes and performance workshops for kids and adults. She is a member of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing). She currently teaches out of her private voice studio in North Austin.

Mrs. Mathews-Muttwill is a voice teacher with a methodical, yet fun approach to teaching aspiring singers of all ages and levels of ability.
